Owners

Hannah Colbert and Toni Pierce met teaching yoga in the North Shore of Massachusetts. They quickly gravitated towards one another due to their undeniable passion for growing their practice, both individually and at a community level. After recognizing how well they complement one another as teachers and entrepreneurs, they formed a partnership in 2019 and built Salty into what it’s known as today.

Hannah deepened her love with the mind, body, and spiritual connection of yoga while receiving her teacher training certificate in 2015 with Marianne Wells, in Cahuita, Costa Rica. Serendipitously, Toni was experiencing a different level of connection and deeper practice of yoga while visiting Costa Rica at the same time, although the pair hadn’t met yet. Toni proceeded to pursue her dream of yoga and obtained her teaching certificate at Barre & Soul in Boston, MA.

They incorporate therapeutic aspects of yoga for healing, and the positive contribution this has brought is reflected in the community they’ve developed. They’re constantly evolving and furthering their education; one example being their certification in Trauma Informed Yoga. This experience brought them closer than they could’ve imagined, opening themselves up for deeper inner work, and ultimately allowing them to hold greater space for others. Hannah and Toni embody the transformative power of yoga and mind body practices through their teachings, partnership, and guiding values for their work. The duo operate both studios in Salem, MA and Peabody, MA together with an emphasis on collaboration, connection, and community.

Where do I sign up for classes and see your schedule?

You can sign up for classes and view our class schedule right from our website under our class schedule page or directly on our page on the Mindbody App! Pre-registration is required for in person classes. It is strongly recommended and encouraged to secure your spot in a class, and to ensure class runs as scheduled. We reserve the right to cancel class if less than 3 students are registered. Time and energy are valuable and we want both students and teachers alike to have the best experience possible.

What classes do you recommend to beginners?

Our classes will all offer modifications and variations for beginners, but some styles we offer can be a better fit for beginners as well. Our chill buddha class has a slower pace and less intensity than our salty buddha vinyasa class, followed with relaxing postures, which can be great for beginners and enjoyed by all levels of students. Our zen buddha and yin buddha classes are appropriate for all levels from beginners to advanced, and incorporate gentle movement with floor-based postures and longer held stretches with a more meditative approach.

What if I am not flexible enough to do yoga?

FALSE! We get this question all the time! Yoga is for everyone, you do not need to be flexible to practice. Our teachers are passionate about sharing the gift of yoga with everyone and will always make you feel supported wherever you are in your practice. You do not need to be flexible or “in shape” to practice, but you will be surprised how your flexibility will develop mentally, physically and spiritually!

Can I come if I have never done yoga before?

YES! Welcome! We are all beginners at some point in our practice. We would be honored to guide you through your first experiences with yoga. Our empathetic, supportive, knowledgeable and kind staff will always meet you where you’re at, no matter what level class you take here at the studio. If you’re looking for a floor based practice to get you started our zen buddha classes offers a blend of gentle yoga, yin and restorative. Our signature Salty Buddha Vinyasa Style classes are accessible to all levels, with variations for beginners to experienced students. Always look on the schedule to see if we are currently offering a beginner’s yoga class, dedicated to the foundations of yoga.

What is your Cancellation Policy?

In order to respect the time of our staff members and students, we do have to honor our cancellation policy. If you cancel within 12 hours before class starts you will be charged a $20 late charge fee/the class pack will be used for the late cancellation. If you are feeling ill, of course we will waive that fee - just email us to let us know! Info@thesaltybuddha.com
