Santosha Salty Buddha river getaway retreat

Retreat to the Riverside & Woods of Maine with Salty

Join Lindsie Morin for a deeply nourishing journey to the lush riverside woods of Kingfield, Maine. Set on a peaceful riverfront estate at Santosha at Hillholm Estate, this 4-day retreat blends daily yoga practices, intentional workshops, and vibrant farm-to-table meals with plenty of unstructured time to rest, wander, and simply breathe.

Each day is designed to feel spacious — a thoughtful balance of effort and ease, fire and softness. Move, explore, and then exhale. Between classes, you can deepen your experience with optional add-ons like massage, reiki, Ayurveda consultations, or evenings in the sauna and hot tub beneath the open, star-filled sky.

A classic stone fire pit and outdoor fireplaces, surrounded by Adirondack chairs create the perfect setting for connection, reflection, and late-night s’mores. With direct access to the Carrabassett River, miles of hiking trails, and the valley’s best-kept secret swimming hole, nature becomes part of your daily ritual — an extension of the work you’re doing on the mat.

This is more than a getaway. It’s a nervous system reset — an opportunity to step away from the hustle and return to your truest self in body, mind, and spirit.

Where We’re Staying

SANTOSHA AT HILLHOLM ESTATE in Kingfield, Maine

Nestled in the wild mountains of western Maine, Santosha at Hillholm Estate is a unique yoga and mindfulness retreat center housed in a beautifully restored 1895 Gilded Age mansion in Kingfield, Maine. Originally called Hillholm—built for industrialist Amos G. Winter and long celebrated locally as The Inn on Winter’s Hill—the estate combines rich historical character with a vibrant present-day purpose as a sanctuary for wellbeing and reflection.

The name Santosha comes from the Sanskrit word for contentment without striving, reflecting the essence of the center’s mission: to help guests slow down, reconnect with nature, and cultivate inner peace in a supportive, inspiring environment.

Since its thoughtful revival on this property in 2022, the center has become a place where daily life feels simpler and more intentional. Daily rhythms at the estate often include yoga and pranayama sessions, guided meditations, mindful meals, forest bathing, and community gatherings, allowing guests to engage in practices that nourish both body and spirit.

The retreat’s serene setting—surrounded by forests, riverfront access, and mountain views—supports a range of activities from hiking and cold plunges to quiet reflection by the fire, all designed with a balanced pace that honors rest and awakening in equal measure.
